ANIMAL ROUND
An animal round was designed for bowhunting practice, by using two-dimensional paper-animal target faces instead of the circular black-and-white faces of the target rounds. The same 28-target course as the Field and Hunters Round is used.
The animal faces have 2 scoring areas, the "vital or kill" area, and the "non-vital or wound" area. Three arrows may be used for each target. The arrows are marked 1, 2, 3. The first arrow shot is number 1 arrow, then number 2 and then number 3. The first arrow to hit the target in the scoring area is the arrow scored. The remaining arrows do not score. Thus if you are unsure if an arrow is in a scoring ring, shoot another arrow. If you find that the 1st arrow hits the target, the second and third arrow (if shot) do not score. If the first arrow misses, the second arrow (if it hits the target) scores and the third arrow does not score. If all three arrows miss there is no score. All arrows must be shot in numbered order.
