HUNTER ROUND
The Hunter Round is designed to give the archer practice in concentration on the target area. The stark white spot against a black background enables the archer to concentrate easily on an aiming spot. Shooting distances are slightly less than those of the Field Round, but the same course of 28 target course is used, with red stakes at marked distances. The size of the target depends upon the distance, the longer the distance the larger the target. Target sizes vary in diameter from 20 centimeters to 65 centimeters. Distances vary from 11 yards to 70 yards. Four arrows are shot at each target. For 4 of the targets, the four arrows are shot from the same distance. For 3 of the targets the shooting varies for each arrow, however the distance is the same. For 3 targets there are only 2 shooting positions, where 2 arrows are shot from each position. The remaining 4 targets are walk-ups where the distance varies with each arrow.
Distances are measured and known, marked by red stakes (for adults) at shooting positions. Targets are in no special order and may be arranged as best suits the terrain at each range. Young adults stakes are marked with red, as is adults, youth stakes are marked blue, unless the distance is under 50 yds, and cubs stakes are marked with black.
The NFAA targets, which are used by CAA affiliated clubs, have a white center spot (5 points), an inner black ring (4 points), and an outer black ring (3 points) The target has light gray lines separating the scoring areas, not visible from the shooting position.
